My brother-in-law shoots one, he inherited it from his grandfather. Last season I asked him how often he shoots at the range. He said maybe once every 5 years. In the 20 or so years he's had the rifle he has not had to adjust the scope (an old Redfield, I believe) or has it ever been to a gunsmith. He has shot several Texas whitetail, all one shot kills ranging from 40 to 200 yards. Sounds like a great rifle to me. I'm keeping my eyes open for one to add to my collection.

I had the pre-64 model which was really nice and it shot as I recall as well as most bolt rifles...I bought it used at the time and I decided to refinish the stock and take the action out of the stock and clean it up..that was a mistake..I needed a gunsmith to put it back together. I should have never sold it though.

I've hunted with one in .308 for about 15 years. It is far and away my favorite rifle. I've never had any trouble with accuracy. Depending on what I feed it, she'll group from 1.5 inches to under an inch at 100 yards. These are pretty rifles that are a joy to carry and shoot.

My uncle, God bless his sole, had one of these in .284. He just loved this rifle. And he was deadly with it. He took alot of whitetails with this rifle. Just wish I could have gotten it from him before he passed on.
I would really like to have an 88 in .358 but the prices they bring is a bit more than I care to pay. Some day.

I love my model 88 in 308 it is honestly my favorite rifle. It is very accurate with hot loads but only marginally accurate with lighter loads, the only load that it likes out of a box is remingtons core lokt 150's. I like the rifle so much that i wanna own all 4 calibers, especially the 358.
