The 375HH has noticably more apparent thump on both ends....
With that said it is a truly delightful cartridge.... the "African equivalent of the American 30-06."
BTW, get your stock fitted to you on these two --- if the fit is wrong on either one it can punish you, if the fit is right and your technique sound, then they are both a pleasure. You are moving up your level of play at this point.

EKM the last 375 I fired was a Remington KS with no sights w/300 grain loads and it was not too bad in the recoil department. I am thinking 270 grain bullets in a new CZ 550 Safari.

The .375H&H has certainly got more kick to it, it's not terrible, but it's certainly more than most people give it credit (compared to the other african game cartridges). Like EKM said, get your stock fitted right and that's half the battle, good recoil pads/reducers are a good help too (although reducers usually add more weight than I think they're really worth).

I have one of each.....and as far as I'm concerned the recoil apparant, as well as any other way of measuring it, is about the same.
I'm now thinking that if one really needs greater power than a .30-06 or even .300 magnum, one really should own a .375 H&H. For North American hunting the .338 Mag is fully adequate for anything but if you ever go to Africa the .375 takes over because of legal concerns more than real power requirements.......
I'm a real fan of the .375 H&H....it's one helluva lotta gun and with tolerable recoil.
EKM ..I think the LOP on this is 13 7/8 I will probably lengthen that with a plastic spacer and then have my gunsmith fit it with a good recoil pad . It would be strictly an Elk rifle or bigger game rifle . I have a pretty stout switch I can use on the Whitetails and my 7 STW for Mulies and such.

Good luck with your acquisition. I think you will find that it puts a k-thump on elk that is quite satisfying in its results --- the rifle can be a bit heavy however --- so your call there.
It is truly one of the all time, world wide classics. I kinda like Vapodog's 30-06 and 375HH "tag team" approach.
CZ is a great rifle, and they really shine in the "midbores and up" department. I assume you are getting the American Safari --- be aware that that stock is a lot "thicker" just about everywhere, than is the "hogback Lux" (my favorite for fit).
Gunbroker.com, the guy out of Georgia ---"ton80" has them about as reasonable as I have seen.

My work buddy had a Remington in the grand old 375 and I had a Sako in 338; we both had 300 grain loads that day, shooting from the stand. I really could not tell a difference; I assumed the 375 would hit harder on the shoulder but it wasn't bad. Note that we were not bench shooting, though. The 300 grains were the only time I understimated my eye relief. (Biscuit has a thick head, tho)
