I bought the Savage 93R17 FVSS because I like synthetic stocks (I beat the snot out of my guns in the woods). The gun shoots 1/2-3/4 inch groups every time when I am shooting the 17 grain Hornady VMax loads. I got the 4.5x14x40AO Simmons ATV scope, you can buy from
www.natchezss.com for about $80 shipped. So far I love the setup.
Regarding the triggers, I did a trigger job on mine a week ago. It is now literally a match grade trigger. No creep, and 2lbs a pull. It is just as crisp as any aftermarket trigger I have seen or used. There is a how to on this trigger job here........

One thing I did differently, is instead of replacing the trigger spring, I used the stock one, but mashed it a bit with a pair of pliers so that it wasn't so stiff. I couldn't find a pen spring that fit the hole that was strong enough to return the trigger assembly to it's proper position every time. You should have seen the look on my girlfriends face when she came home and I was sitting there with a perfectly good brand new gun, and 2 dozen pens all taken apart on the living room floor.......
Last weekend before the trigger job, I was able to hit a quarter 8 times out of ten at 100 yards, and the misses were my fault, not the guns.
