Default To paint or not to paint

I have a new sendero 300rum and I want to know if I am crazy for wanting to paint it. I have all the equipment necessary, I paint model for a hobby. Just wanting to throw some camo on the stock, barrel, and scope. I am just afraid cause it is new ($1800 worth of new). Thanks

Several thermoset coatings and paints available from Brownells. Many are available in non aerosols, with reducer/thinners available so you can use an airbrush. Knock your self out!

You might have all the equipment but are you confident enough in you"™re skills to paint a camo pattern. If it was an old gun then heck go for it, but a brand new gun. I know I wouldn"™t do it and I have done some fancy painting in the past. To try and duplicate some camo pattern isn"™t easy unless you"™re just going to spray it on without to much concern on the final job. The end result is that is all up to you. Good luck...

Are you planning to sell it , if not go for it ,its your $$$ just remember if you want to sell it the camo job may cost you at resale time . I never bothered to blue my custom mauser that I do most of my hunting with . As the seasons change it may get a new color camo . You don't have to copy a pattern ,make up a new one if you like.

If you got the air brush equipment I would paint the stock no problem. I would NOT paint the metal.

I just read an article about putting camo on your firearm. Jim Crumbly (of Treebark fame), has came up with a new process that can apply the camo finish, of your choice, and it takes him about 4-6 weeks. The finish is supposed to be excellent and I think it could be removed in the future if wanted. The patterns looked great and I'd trust Jims work. Check into it and see what you think. For a couple $'s, it may be the way to go.
