300 RUM OWNERS (Scirocco Questions)

Hey guy's, I know a couple of you have tried them But could not remember your results? I went today to work out yardage on my Mil dot reticle on my 700 Sendero .300 RUM and ran out of my 1st try load(Nosler partition 180 gr Rem ultra) that had been shooting well(1/2 " @ 300 2 shot group). So I try the 180 gr swift scirooco and It went to 3.5 in 2 shot @ 300 and way worse @ 600. Has anyone had similar results?

You doing pretty good to say the least. The best I can get is 2" groups at 100 yards handloaded and factory.

I had no luck at all getting either the 165gr or 180gr scirocco to shoot well in either of my 300ultramags.

My gun seems to have the capability to be very accurate, But I wanted to try some different ammo to see if it would like something better, I was told Remington was not going to continue loading Nosler bullets , Does anyone know for sure? I don't want to find a awesome factory load and then the co stops making it... Do either of you have a bullet /powder combo that is really good? Factory or not What type and weight seems to work best in your rifles? I have taken up to 600 yd shots today w/ descent results 2 shot group 9" But we had a slight mirage and it was a little difficult to see the targets clearly. Thanks fo the help.

The best load in both of my 300ultramags is the 180gr ballistic tip and 95gr of r-25.One rifle averages right around 1/2" for three shot groups at 100 yards.The other appears to be capable of considerably better although I have only had it for two days since a new barrel was installed and have only fired three groups with this load through the new barrel(groups were .080",.280"and .430").This gun did average 1/2" with the same load for several hundred rounds with the previous barrel before the accuracy began to fade.

I shot my 700SS last weekend at 145 yards (range finder verified) and had a 4 shot goup just a touch over 1/2" with factory 200gr Remington loads. I've had good accuracy out of the 180 Nosler Partitions, during sight in I got about 3/4" 4 shot groups. The long range shooters that I've talked with, we're talking guys that shoot 600 to 1000 yards and more regularly, don't like the scirocco for accuracy work at all.

The 180gr Nosler Partition Remington ammo I used last year did not expand at all on the 260lb Kansas buck I shot at 110 yards and I took him with a very slightly quartering away shot though both shoulders. He had an entrance wound about the size of a fat pen and the same size exit wound, I was not impressed to say the least, but thankfully both shoulders were completely destroyed. I'm glad I took the shoulder shot, he could have gone a mile or more if he had all his wheels with a wound like that in the flats of Kansas. Remington might have been getting reports of failures such as mine and decided to quit the Nosler Partitions.

I've got a box of Federal 180's to try for my next range trip.

Handloader 1,I just started the grouping shooting this past weekend and did not realize I didn't take enough of the accurate load......(180 nosler partition). I switched after the sight in @600 yds to scirroco's and the 2 shot group went from about 6" to 13"??? Guess It don't like them.

What do you think fella's? Since the nosler partition seems to shoot so well ,Do you think that the 180 ballistic tip nosler would should better that the partitions?? Any one shoot them??

For the record, two shots is a pair.To the more serious shooters a group is three shots or more.
