Default Gaillard barrel results on 300ultramag

I recently had a Gaillard medium varmint barrel installed on one of my 300ultramags whose accuracy had begun to fade. The first load that I tested was the 180gr ballistic point and reloader 25.The first 100 yard groups at 92 gr showed promise and as the charge was increased the groups tightened up even more.I fired three groups at 95gr and the results were group sizes of .080",.280" and .430".As an added benefit the barrel showed almost no sign of copper fouling. This is my first Gaillard barrel but it will not be my last.Delivery time is shorter than most, prices are competitive and the quality seems very good

Not a lot of info on his site Stubble..are they cut rifled or button rifled? Sounds like you have quite a barrel there

I believe that all of his barrels are button rifled.Gaillard barrels are well known in Canada especially in the competitive shooting circles but they are not well known at all internationally.

The barrel was chambered, fluted and installed by www.rockymountainrifles.com .The price was reasonable and the job was completed when they originally said it would be done which is a rarity with gunbuilders.

Too bad they are a few thousand miles north of here I would be doing business with them.
