Don't shoot one ,saw what was left of one after a factory round went boom , first time to the range maybe 2 boxs in .Marlin and Hornday blame each other and the shooter ,would not even replace the gun !

My friend has one and he loves it. It kicks alot but he likes that it is not a long range gun by any means but a goodl swamp gun.

I have shot one. My friend took one bear hunting.

He shot a bear with his bow...so he never shot at an animal with it...but we were hell on targets after we stuck bears. LOL

It kicks a ton, but would be great to carry.

I do not have a .450 but I do have a 45/70. There is little difference between them in the higher pressure loads of the 45/70 , the 45/70 is more versatile then the .450 and easrier to find loads for . If you reload the 45/70 will actully out do the .450. Check out the buffalo bore or garrett web site for factory loads (only if you have a rifle that will handle them ) I can tell you they are awesome. I have taken one whitetail with mine and it was very affective. But that was with a winchester 305 gr.

I was on this kick for a while. A high pressure 45/70 or 450marlin out of a marlin lever is pretty punishing even for a 300RUM shooter like myself. but I like it.
