Default 25-06 bullets pick the best.

My tikka shoots all of the first list of bullets very well. The best grouping is the 117 grain Sierra Gameking. Which would you use for the coming season on Alabama whitetails. I do not reload so I am limited to factory offerings.

Sierra Gameking 117 gr BTSP

Remington 120 gr Core-Lokt

Remington 100 gr Core-Lokt

Federal 100 gr ballistic tip

Winchester 115 gr ballistic silver tip

Have not tried the following but for sake of choice here are more options. Which of these should I try if any.

Winchester super x 120 grain positive expanding point

Remington 115 gr Core-Lokt ultra (new for this year)

Federal 100 gr Barnes Triple Shock X bullet

Federal 115 gr Speer trophy bonded Bear Claw

Federal 115 gr Nosler Partition

Federal 117 gr Speer hot core

Hornady 117 gr BT Spire point

Hornady 117 gr SST

Any experiences or opinions with any of these bullets types would be greatly appreciated.

Todd,
I'm a big fan of the 25-06,I've killed deer, bear, elk and antelope with the 25-06.
I have a big soft spot for the 115 Noslers from federal, great accuracy and dependibility.
I have also shot the Hornady BT 115 gr and the 117 gr Light magnums. They worked well on the antelope and elk I have shot.
I'm not a big fan of the 115 gr Winchester Balistic silver tip, they did not penetrate well on the mule deer I have shot with them.I also got poor exspantion from the "So called Positive Expanding"120 gr. from Winchester.
The Federal Classic 117 gr Speer-hot core have worked well for the white-tails around here.I also have shot the Ballistic tip 115 gr from Federal great on antelope.
I never got very good accuracy with 120 gr Cor-Loks from Rem,but the 100 gr are great on Coyotes.
The two guns I used are a Ruger Mk I 25-06 with the med-weight barrel, and also a Ruger No 1 Standard.
I'am loaning the No 1 to my brother for his son,he is going to use 115 Barnes-x tripple shok,he will be hunting deer and elk.

Todd,
Until this year i only shot factory ammo out of my 25-06 Ruger MKII and I got the best groups out of the 115 gr ballistic silvertips, I was shooting about 1" groups. They really did a number on average size deer 125-140 whitetails never left one wounded, The only ammo I had any trouble with was the Rem. core lokts I kept getting flingers (sometimes 3 inches away!!) I also had very good luck with the Fed 117 sierra gamekings although I never shot a deer with them. I reload now and the 120 Nosler Partitions I load myself are shooting about .65" groups. Side note: the 85 gr Nosler ballastic tip works great on groundhogs

hope this helps

Todd...I HAD (and kick myself that it is HAD) a 25-06, and I killed a lot of deer with it. I always shot the 120 gr Core-lokt's, and had no problem.

Deer usually never knew what happened.

I used the federal loads with 117gr sierra before I reloaded. I never had a problem with this load. The accuracy was excellent and the kills were very quick.

I have had no problem taking plenty of whitetails with 100 grain Core-Lokts. I have found them to be fast and accurate.

I am now shooting 120gr nosler partitions with great results. Out of the factory loads you mentioned I would definitely get my hands on the fed premium 115gr partitions before I settled on any of the others. I was getting those from cabelas before I got into handloading. Great performance on whitetails.

I always had good luck with the Win. PXP 120 grain (POSITIVE EXPANDING POINT) as far as factory ammo goes. I have yet to have an exit wound with this round.
