Default are the stocks of an t/c encore pistol and rifle interchangable

will the pistol grip and forend of a t/c encore handgun fit on the frame of a t/c encore rifle ?? or , are the stocks of an encore rifle , and a encore pistol , both workable on the same encore frame ??

Same frame just switch barrels and stocks.

Carp is right. The only reason the frames have two different catalog numbers is so they know which stock to send with the frame.(pistol grip or shoulder stock) As for the forends, they're different. The pistol forend is obviously smaller and the screw holes don't line up on a rifle barrel. All of the pistol barrels use the same forend, with the exception of the muzzleloading one, but there are several different forends for "long" barrels. Muzzleloading barrels, bull barrels, reg rifle barrels and shotgun barrels all require a different forend.

Just remember you CAN NOT use a shorter than 16" barrel with a rifle butt stock .That is making a short barreled rifle and the BATF will not like it.

yeah john , i made that change today at my dealer , i scraped the 15" barrel and pistol style grip and just went with the regular full length rifle . if i would've tried to registered it as a pistol , it would have to have been changed by me contacting the batf , and paying the fees for the paperwork ( approx. $ 200.00 ) and litterally changing it to be registered as a short barreled rifle but , it would then be illegal to use full length rifle barrels on it. which i didn't want to do , so i just went with a full length rifle barrel instead. if the encore is as barrel changing addictive as i've heard it is , i'll just go and get a separate pistol action for the pistol calibers in the shorter 15" barrels that aren't available in a full length rifle barrel

thanks for the info and input guys , very greatly appreciated

whelen, if you want a carbine-length rifle, you may want to check out the Katahdin carbine barrels. These barrels are 18 inches and come in .444 Marlin, 45-70 and 450 Marlin. Just a thought.

yes whelen, the Katahdin barrels will work on the Encore frame. I'm not sure about the forends, but I'd say that they'll work also. As for where the name Katahdin came from, I have no idea. I just checked out T/C's website to see if I could find out, but no luck. I forgot to tell you earlier, but all of the katahdin barrels have a factory installed muzzle-brake on them and with that short of a barrel, a brake will be appreciated.
