Mossberg 695 trigger

I bought a mossberg 695 bolt action slug gun last fall. It was cheap, but heard they were fairly accurate. Problem with it is the 7 1/2 # trigger pull. Does anybody know if it can be lightened by a gunsmith? I like everything else about it. Even the remingtonn 1100 deer gun i just bought my wife has a better trigger. Thanks

RE: Mossberg 695 trigger

Well, mossberg says the trigger is not adjustable and is not recommended to modify the trigger pull. The trigger pull of the 695 is at the average of 7-8 pounds of pull. This is a factory standard.
Well, i guess i will sell this thing and do business with another company. Anyone ever shot the savage bolt action slug gun? just curious. Maybe i'll go back to my 870.

i have both the rem 870 and mossberg 695 . the 870 is 20" smoothbore with rifle sights
shoots great to about 80 yards.
the mossberg, with simmons shotgun scope and lightfield sabots, shoots about 3 " groups
at 100 yards. trigger is a little stiff but how great a trigger do you need when max shots
are under 150 yards? i think you need to shoot the 695 a bit, the trigger will lighten up with use, a good cleaning, and lube job with any quality oil. don't get hung up on a
3# trigger pull. thats just a number and any trigger thats smooth and breaks crisply will do the job. with a good rest mine does occasionally put 2 of 3 in just about the same hole at 75 yards.give the gun a chance before you give up on it , i think you will be pleasantly surprised once you figure out what slugs it likes good shooting!!

I will continue to work with this gun. I am going to hunt with it again this year. I like everything else about it. Besides the ported bbl.[:@] But in all honesty, it does handle and carry well. We'll see how it goes.

Over the years I've shot most of the "slug" guns out there... either mine or friends. They all seem to have sorry, "heavy" triggers that did get somewhat better with use over time. The only great trigger I have ever seen was on a custom slug gun from Tar Hunt. It was an awesome slug gun but kind of expensive.

I just bought my wife a new slug gun. It's a Remington 1100 with cant. mount. It has a better trigger than my mossberg. But maybe it will improve with use.

I have had a 695 for two years now and absolutely love it....shoots tight groups at 150 yards using win sabots.....the trigger pull is not even a consideration after you get used to it...and the thing is accurate as heck.

Love my 695. Ugly, mean looking, beatable, accurate, no-worry gun. And cheaper than the barrels on most other guns. I wish the bolt was a bit smoother and I wish I had a bigger magazine, but it kills deer dead. Trigger is a small issue for me.
