What do you feel are the biggest mistakes the average person makes when installing a rifle/pistol scope? I have made my mistakes and ended up taking it to a friends house for his help. I know I am not the only guy who has messed up! I am developing a segment for an outdoor show, "mistakes we make" with in home gunsmithing, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Turning the dovetailed rings with the scope itself.
Not aligning the rings to each other before mounting the scope in them.
Over tightening teh rings around the scope.
Not having your receiver drilled and tapped for larger 8-40 screws on high recoiling rifles.

Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."
When you first mount your scope, use some form of Metal Weld cementing glue to hold your screws in place, or on high recoil guns, after a box or 2, your scope will be bouncing around...
Lets see, there are so many things that went wrong. The scope became loose, I couldn't get it to adjust to hitting paper. That was years ago, now I will put a new Alaskan Guide scope on my 338, I appreciate all your advice, its great stuff to know, thanks.
