Here is the scenario - Joe hunter wants a new 270 (and only a 270) for hunting deer over open fields. He has narrowed it down to either a Weatherby Vanguard, a Remington ADL, or a Winchester Shadow. Primary concern is accuracy (and of course reliability), with looks, etc of less importance. Weatherby guarantees the Vanguard will shoot groups within 1 and 1/2" using premium ammo. The other don't! But would they with premium ammo? Weatherby Vanguard also comes with a 24" barrel (the ADL is 22, don't know about the Win), so perhaps a few more FPS out of the Weatherby. No interest in any other manufacturer except as mentioned. Which gun would you select, and WHY?
Thanks,
Hal
I have never owned a remington 700 that would not group under 1-1/2".Most grouped around 1" with handloads.I know that you wanted one of these three but if accuracy is really your priority consider tikka. All tikka rifles must shoot a 1" group before being shipped.Tikkas are very reasonably priced as well.
I would certainly take the vanguard. They are made by Howa for Weatherby and they are very well made rifles. You would be hard pressed to find a better rifle under $600.

I would go with the vanguard under theas serstances.
the vanguared is garinted for the 1 1\2 in groups the others are not.
both will more than likely be just as accurate as the vanguard but the gurintee is nice.
from my under standing each vanguard comes with a factory 3 shot group target.
and the load used is written on the target.
so if the dealer would let you you could compare the targets and pick the tightest one.
pluse if it comes with 24in barral and the others come with a 22iner there is a slight volicity edge with the extra barral "25 to 50 fps per in" if it will not get in you way.

First thing you might check out, The vanguards don't actually guarantee that YOU can shoot 1.5" groups with their rifles, they guarantee that each rifle is capable of it, and they give you the target in the box to prove it, as far as I've read into it, there is no guarantee it will ever do it for you or ever again.
As far as my personal preference goes, I'd be picking up the Winchester, but the Remington is pretty nice too, but for what it's worth, the Shadow would be my pick.
