Default Sighted in my .300 RUM Sendero Today

Well ya'll, All I can say is I am pleased!! My rifle is a Rem .300 RUM ss Fluted 26" barrelled Sedero W/ a Zeiss 3-12-56 Scope. I was told it had lots of recoil, And that is true...However it is not as bad as people make it sound like. I shot 22 rnds from it today and it is a man, Let me tell you..

Started with a good cleaning and trigger adjustment before doing any shooting, Then a quick bore sight in And to the range we went.

I shot 3 shot groups @ 100, 200 and 300 yds ,At 100 all I wanted to see was a good vertical and horizonal , A few clicks and there we were about 3"high and 1st goup was about 1.5 in( Mostly due to me flinching) This thing is loud! After some getting to know her, She loosened on up.
At 200yds it started shining, I shot 3 groups ; 3/4" ,5/8",And the best all day 1/2"!!!!!!! Can you believe it, I couldn't!! ONE HALF INCH AT 200yds!!!!!!!!!! Get this Now This was done w/ Factory Rem 180 gr nosler partitions.. 300 yds Regretfully I only got off a couple of shots off and the wind picked up And we stopped, But it still shot around 1.5 in at 300 yds...

In closing ,I will try several other types and weights in this rifle before staying w/ one. I would like to see a swift scirocco shoot as well and a little faster.I will keep you all up to date on its progress as I go, We will try it in the next week or so on the long range at the hunting land(0-700 yd @ 100 yd increments. Got to make use of the new ballistic reticle I had installed. Thanks to all That answered the ton of questions I posted several weeks ago, Opinions are valuable and I believe in making the best informed decisions possible.

Dont you just feel all warm and tingly inside when the first trip to the range with a new rifle is darn near perfect? Congrats on the firearm, sounds like you got a winner in that sendero.

Uhm.........Why?

Man I would be buying up every single box of those that were in that same lot number. To get a new rifle that will shoot 1/2 minute of angle and keep that kind of accuracy ar 300 yards, especially one with a huge powder capacity like the UM, doesn't come along every day. I'd say you found your load and in very short order.

I see what your'e saying and agree, But, I am going to work on getting it predictable out to 600-700 yds and as you know one bullet may shoot better down there than another. As i stated I had zeiss change out my reticle to a ballistic model(4 dots up and down and left and right from zero) and I plan on being able to use all of them.I am hoping to find something w/ a little better ballistic coefficency than the nosler so down range may be a little better. If not, I wouldn't have a problem in the world shooting the Noslers. I will keep ya'll posted when we get some good time in on the range.

Big Bulls, Have you ever had a rifle that shot better after afew shots following a cleaning, I shot three shot groups and then cleaned and It will shoot tighter groups after 2 shots than it will the first two after a cleaning?
I hav also been told it shoot probably shoot better after a 100 rnd or so ? Any truth to this?

That's probably your barrel being "broke in". As you continue to shoot it the imperfections in the barrel will begin to smooth out and allow the bullet to travel down the barrel better.

Doe Dumper, it's a Sendero, not a 710 or 597!
