Definetly pepper laminate. IMO stainless and pepper laminate look awesome together.

You get the beauty of wood with the weather resistant abilites of a synthetic. The weight will also help tame some of that recoil.

I had a Model 700 SS, in 300RUM, and it kicked like a mule (to me), so I put an HS Precision synthetis stock on it, and it seemed to kick a bit less. I like to shoot a lot from the bench, and just couldn't get comfortable with the gun, so I sold it. I have owned several 700s with the factory synthetic stock. The factory stocks are practical and most folks are more than satisfied with them, but I replace em' all with HS stocks. My 300RUM was very acurate, and I suspect yours will be as well. good hunting.

Yeah, take it off and put on a laminate stock.

I put a HS Precision on my 300 RUM and a muzzle break, shoots like a 20ga with target loads and 1/2 inch groups.

I like synthetic stocks so I don't have to worry about scratching them. Good luck.
