Same story. The 7mm Ultra mag is one of the flattest shooting factory cartridges out there. The one thing I will give it is most people out there can't judge range worth the beans. This flat shooting ability will take away alot of range mis-judging errors. I'm just affraid people will start to think that because they have a super magnum, they can shot moose from 10 miles away.

Too much over-bore.

Same response as I gave in the 300 thread.

What will it be used for? We can't give you an educated opinion if you don't give us any information to base one on.

In most every hunting situation you will encounter it will not be needed.

Unless you handload, I would go for something else. There are not many factory loadings out there (I think Remington only offers two). I get the feeling that this round may not be with us 5-10 years down the road. It is just to simmular to the STW, which already has a strong following in the long range 7mm club.

I have a Remington 700 in 7mm RUM. Used it last season on a Mule Deer/ Elk hunt in Colorado. Dropped a nice 4x4 mullie at 210 yards using a 160gn Nosler Partition. Now, Remington has dropped the Nosler line in their RUMs. Not sure if this was Remington, or Nosler making the decision, but what I heard was the partitions were blowing apart under the extreme velocity these cartridges produce. So, to my knowledge Remington currently is only loading the 140 gn Core lokt Ultra for the 7mm RUM. Very disappointing for a non-reloader. I filed a complaint with Remington explaining that most hunter heading out for Elk, Moose or even Bear would prefer a heavier load then a 140 gn CLU, and what is their plans to produce more loads. Not heard back, or read anything in their news letters. As you know I"™m not a reloader, nor do I plan to be one at this time. I invested over $700.00 bucks in this rifle, and at the time of purchase Remington was loading 140gn CL & Partitions, 160gn Partitions and 175gn Swift A-Frame loads of different manufactures bullets. A nice selection to choice from based on what you plan to hunt. Don"™t know if this round will last or not, but if you going to invest in a 7mm RUM, reloading should be in you plans"¦..
