Default Exchanging Ruger Factory Scope Rings?

I recently bought a Ruger Super Redhawk, which comes standard with matching 1" Low scope rings. I'd like to put a red dot sight on it for deer hunting, but after checking out the different red dot scopes I decided that the 1" versions just don't provide a wide enough view for my liking, but the 30mm versions are about perfect (not too small, but not too big either).

Do any of you know if Ruger will exchange the rings that came with the gun for a pair of 30mm rings that will work with the scope I want to get? The rings are a pricy $75 a pair if I wanted to buy them, but then I'd have an extra set of 1" rings I couldn't use.

When I mounted my scope, they would not exchange them with me. I was really annoyed with the way Ruger had it set up. The guy told me that they have no use for the rings and that everyone goes with the larger rings. I wish Ruger would change this set up because it drives me crazy.

I don't know if the rifle and handgun rings are the same but at $37.11 these are alot better priced and i think they look better than the rugers.natchez

Can't imagine why you are having these problems. Every Ruger M-77 I buy comes shipped with medium rings..I package them up with a letter and send them back to Ruger and get Lowrings back no problems and no questions asked.

First I'd like to say that Ruger's reputation for excellent customer service is WELL DESERVED!

I just got off the phone with a Ruger Customer Svc. rep regarding this issue. She was very pleasant and helpful, and she basically said that there is absolutely no problem with sending me the rings that I want in exchange for the ones that come with the gun. In fact, from the way she talked it sounded like this was a common request and one the company has absolutely no problems with granting.

All I had to do was give her my name, address and the serial # of my revolver and she said she'd have a set shipped out right away. When I get the new ones I then just mail the old set back...that's it. Needless to say that I am very pleased with the service I recieved. When I called I had prepared myself to receive a negative response, so I was actually caught off guard when she treated my request as no problem what-so-ever.

I currently own three Ruger firearms, all of which are quality guns that I enjoy a great deal and serve me well. That combined with this great experience (this is the first time I've contacted a gun maker for service, and I can only hope that if I ever need to call another, their service is as good as Ruger's) I know that from now on any time I consider a new gun, Ruger will be at the top of my list.
