i see marlin is now making a 1894 cowboy rifle in .32 h&r magnum . why don't they just bring back the 1894cl in .218 bee , .25-20 , and .32-20 . they were period calibers and the rifle they came in was handsome looking too , and with today's cowboy action shooting , these calibers would in my opinion would fit in . any thoughts from you guys.

I saw that new one from Marlin also. Debating whether to get that or a .260 Remington next. I think it would be good for them to bring back the older calibers also because of the increasing popularity of cowboy action shooting. Have you emailed Marlin about it? Maybe if they can see that there is enough interest to have these calibers back they will start chambering them again.

The .32 H&R seems that it would be a good rabbit, squirrel and short range coyote gun.
It will probably be a while anyway before a new gun finds its home in my safe due to my recent kidney transpland and the fact that I owe a good amount of money back to my Grandpa for helping me out. Should be able to get one nearer to the end of the year.

I don't know the price of the 25-20 and the 32-20 ammo ,but I do know the 218 Bee is a bit high if you have to buy it . One gun shop wanted over $54.00 a box for it . We have two of the Marlin 1894 CL in 218 Bee .

That is one thing wrong with cowboy shoots. IMO they make you be so "period" in many ways but then let you shoot calibers that did not exist.
Most places won't let you shoot a 22 in any thing but special matchs yet it is one of the older cartridges.
For the purpose that you mentioned, it should be great.
Never had a Marlin that wasn't.

I like the .32 H&R, and was looking forward to the rifle's production. However, the magazine will load thru the front of the tube, like most tube magazine .22s, and NOT thru a loading gate on the receiver, like the rest of the 1894s. I don't know if this was decided by the engineering department or the marketing department, but I'm not wild about the arangment.

Biggest problem I have with cowboy slaction are the whimp loads allowed. If you are going to shoot a frontier caliber, you should be required to stick to the original full power ballistics. No .45 Colts at 600 fps, thank you!
