The old WW silvertips were my favorite factory load. I don't know about the new Winchester Ballistic Silvertips. I shoot the factory old silvertips in my 250-3000 whenever I don't have reloads ready to shoot

i shot them this year in my 30-06 i shot the ballistic silver tips in 168gr. and i wasent pleased with them i shot a large body deer at about 75 yds. a good broad side shot and it diddent expand worth a damn and it was a big ol deer the hole was only the size of a dime it was a good double lung shot so he only went about 30yds with a good blood trail so i guess there ok but i personally think there should have been better expansion they shoot really good and shoot good groups but i just personally wasent happy with the expansion maby it was that 1 shot maby all are like that but i decided to go back the "ol faithful" remington corlocks(sp?) but maby others have had better luck and like i said they did the job fine i just think the could have expanded more

I used to use the old silvertips, but only for one season of deer hunting. The one and only deer I shot with them was missing it's far shoulder when I retrieved it, probably a good moose round and 180gr plus would be perfect for bear. They are deffinately a destroyer.....most damaging round I've ever shot.

I would use them up to medium thin skinned game, but that is about it. Good luck.

Here I thought this thread was a contest to win some silvertips. I have never used them but have read good things about them.

I used them in my 30.06 and never did have any accuracy issues with them. I did have a few problems with the gun jamming but I think that was the guns fault.

I have not used them but I can tell you that my grandfather swore by them out of his .270 in 130 grains. He wouldn't reload anyghing else.
