Default M-1 Garand

What kind of accuracy can I get out of an M-1 Garand using Winchester 147 gr. FMJ's. My gun club offers a M-1 Garand match on one saturday of the month. Just wondering if I could use it for the matches and coyote hunting.

My HRA will shoot the winchester white box 147's into 4-5" 10 shot groups at 100 yards. My handloads will shoot at about 2" or less for 10 shots. On the other hand, there is a whole lot that is involved with how an M1 shoots from how much muzzle wear it has, how the op rod fits, how the gas cylinder and stock fits etc. The only way you'll know for sure is to try shooting the stuff.

I would bet that if yu can get your hands of some Danish or Korean (most of the korean stuff is corrosive) M2 ball, it will shoot much better than the Winchester stuff and will be a bit cheaper also.

IT DEPENDS IF YOU ARE SHOOTING IN A CMP SANCTIONED MATCH. IF YOU ARE YOU HAVE TO USE BALL AMMO. SO EVERYONE WILL BE EQUAL.
