Default Used Savage Purchase. What do you think?

I put a used Savage in layaway today. it is in the 7mm-08 cal. I like this caliber and the price is good also. One thing I need to ask you all about and that is condition it is in. OK. It looks like it was taken care of reasonably well by previous owner except for the muzzle end of the barrel. It is wore to wear it looks like all the bueing is off of it. The crown looks good, just no blueing. This got me to thinking would it be possible for this gun to be shot out? Has it been shot so much that the blueing being wore is just a sign that this gun is over the hill as far as shooting goes??? The rest of the gun looks good as I looked at it yesterday and thought is was new. I looked closer today before layaway and saw the blueing wear on the end. What do you guys think???

If the price is right, buy it! It is unlikely that the gun has been shot out. Not impossible, just not likely! Most deer rifles are not shot a whole lot and it would take about 3,000 to 4,000 rounds of normal shooting to wear it out!

That blueing may have absolutely nothing to do with being shot. It could be from being rubbed in a case or from cleaning.

If it shoots as well as it should, you have one heck of a whitetail gun!

Sounds like wear from sliding in and out of a gun case. I have one of those on layaway as well. Mine is new. The shorter barreled Savage Scout rifle in 7mm08.
