Questions about H&R Ultra Hunter Rifles
Hi, I have a few questions for anyone that has or knows about the h&r single shots. Firstly, I am looking for a cheap way to get my first rifle and have decided I like the cinnamon laminated wood on these guns and have narrowed my choice of caliber down to the 243,25-06,270,and 308. Anybody that wants to comment on which they prefer would be fine but my main question is Why is the barrel on the 25-06 longer than that of the other three calibers I mentioned. I was leaning towards the 25-06 but usually in my shotguns I like the shortest barrel I can get by with. The 25-06 is 26" long with the rest being 22" long. Why is this? This gun will probably only be used to shoot paper most of the time but maybe a possible coyote or antelope someday.

RE: Questions about H&R Ultra Hunter Rifles
I must honestly say that I do not know why the barrel is longer. My only guess would be that that round may need to burn more powder for optimum performance.
I'm wanting to get NEF's .223 with a bull barrell and survivor stock, then send it in to get a Muzzleloader barrell, 30-06 barrell, 12 guage rifled slug and 12 guage barrell with interchangable chokes. This would be, IMHO, an awesome collection.
