What Range Finder???

I really want a range finder but I'm not sure which one. I'd really like one that is waterproof and at least 6x maginification. What do you use? What works good and what should I avoid? I'm not really comfortable dropping more that $300 or so. I will go up to around $400 but that's pretty much my top. Since I figured the gun area would be a good place to look I'm asking for those that really use them in the field on a regular basis or at least have some good experience using them a lot for hunting and shooting.

I got that waterproof one by bushnell and love it. I believe its the legend pro. I decided i needed waterproof after moose hunting. I found an excellent price on one thru this golf shop on the net. They were 400 dollars thru cabelas, and got mine for 300 I think. They got some on ebay for your price range. If you are seriously interested, I can probably dig up the reciept. Its some online golf store.

The leica range finder is far and away the best that I have seen and is $400. It is the clearest and has a RED digital read-out so that it is no problem to see in low light. Sometimes the black readouts can't be read in the early morning or evening. Check it out, I have never seen anyone who looked through the Leica that didn't like it.

Thanks for the input. I like the Lecia pretty well but it's not waterproof, only water-resistant. Might check it out anyway as the red LED is very nice.

I just recently bought a Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000 from Natchez Shooters Supply and they are selling them for $269.

I'm real satisfied with it. I had considered a Leica, but I'm very happy with the performance of the Bushnell and I saved myself quite a bit of money also.

What kind of shipping do they charge? Their prices are really good, even though items are demos and refurb. Might have to try them. I like the Compact 800 model. Uses 4 AAA batteries and has scan and zip. Water resistant and refurb. only $199.

I paid $12.56 total for shipping and handling on the Bushnell 1000. BTW, $269 is the price for a brand new in the box Yardage Pro 1000, not a demo or refurbished model. If it hadn't been a brand new one, I wouldn't have bought one from them. They do sell some optics as demos and factory refurbs, but you can get any model from any manufacturer brand new from them also.

Hey, I found my reciept for the waterproof Bushnell Legend. It was bought at www.golfstore1.com

If you not interested in that one, they have several more. I have yet to see anyone beat thier prices.
