beretta 686
I have a 686 onyx o/u that will not pattern no matter what load or manufacturer I shoot through it. There are large holes in the pattern. Could the factory choke tubes be the problem? Would an aftermarket extended tube help?? What might cause this?Doesn't seem to matter what tube(ic,m,skeet) I have in.

I don't reload. I shoot Federal shells, anything from 1 1/8 ounce Heavy Field Loads in#6 to 1 ounce#8 in their target loads. Have also tried Winchester target loads for trap and skeet shooting in #7.5 and #8. What would you recommend for pheasant/quail hunting and skeet shooting as far as factory loads go?

MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE! Don't use Federals. They have never been favorites of mine. I think they burn exteremely dirty and they are a B____ to clean up after. Check the end of the barrels, on the outside, after a few rounds, you won't believe the crud on the barrel!

DG, Just going to play the devels advocate, b/c I can't stand Federals[:'(]!
Ever looked at Heavyshot? Talk about irregular pellets! They group great and kill hard! (HUM? KILL HARD????????[&:])
Anyway, I herd that Federal uses the "droppings" from the shot towers for the cheapo loads!? Dirtiest powder I've ever used, JMHO
