Default Browning Shotgun Value

My brother-in-law showed me a shotgun that he inheirited, and was wondering the value of it. It is a Browning Superposed, Belgium manufactured .410 O/U, dated at 1974, in absolute cherry condition. Early serial #. It is still in the case, which is also mint.
Thanks for any information that you can provide.
Charlie

Trebark,

The shotgun that you have described (if you haven't already heard) has been the subject of a long standing recall. These shotguns have been deemed EXTREMELY dangerous and ill mated by UMDD. There were some errors in critical production tolerances and many of these shotguns, although they appeared to be servicable upon basic field inspections, could result in catastrophic explosions upon firing. That's right - CATASTROPHIC EXPLOSIONS.

Anyway, that one particular shotgun must have slipped though the cracks of the extensive recall efforts that were put forth. However, for safety's concern (& safety is always job 1) the recall is still effective to this day. (In the general intrest of the public's safety, of course)

DO NOT FIRE THIS SHOTGUN!

I have been the "acting" settlement agent regarding this extremely urgent recall of these cherry condition .410 O/U shotguns.......uh I mean these defective .410 O/U shotguns for the last, well atleast three or four minutes.

Have the owner contact me with his name and shipping address. I will forward to him a shipping container and the proper documents to send it to my recall depot. (uh, I mean the THE recall depot, not MY recall depot..........uh.......yea right.........that's it.....THE recall depot).

In exchange the present owner will be compensated for the FULL PURCHASE PRICE of the shotgun - $73.70 (1974), therefore there shall be absolutely NO FINANCIAL loss to the owner.

Uncle Matt (in IL)

P.S. To fully meet the stringent requirements of my......I mean this recall.......it is extremely important that the original mint condition case be included. I know that you, as thousands (if not millions and millions of other fine sportsman) are just as very concerned as I am......(I mean WE are) in the safety of ALL sportsman. Therefore, we wouild like to thank you in advance for your well intentioned co-operation in regards to this matter.
