I guess they are joining the club like ever other Optics mfr...only selling thru authorized Retailers....should not affect older models just anything new going out the door has to be purchased thru their dealer. Looked up some dealers on their site that are located in my area and they all discount Leupolds pretty heavily anyway so It doesn't affect me.

Oh, this sucks. Number one reason I buy a Leupold is I know if I want to trade up with someone on the net, or whatever, it will be covered by the warranty.

Just called Leupold. They told me this does not apply to 2nd hand sales? I don't know how they are going to difientate a autorized dealer to a private ebay 2nd owner sale.

Probably anything shipped new after 02/12/2004 will have to be sold thru one of their authorized dealers...they are tracking them with serial numbers and we'll (gasp) probably have to fill out a warranty card like all other scope mfrs make us do.

BC have seen a bunch of these on Ebay including the New VXIII and maybe these dudes aren't Leupold dealers... protect their legit dealers and their profit is my answer..I have no problem with that...I'll still buy used ones from Ebay and they'll be covered that's all that matters.

The whole policy will then be useless as all that you have to do is tell them you bought it used.I don't believe that they would bother to implement such a policy yet leave such a loophole.
