RE: Winchester Model 12
I'm slightly confused. Does it have screw in chokes now? If it does someone had the work preformed after market.
If you're looking to have someone thread the barrel so that you can use choke tubes, any good gunsmith should be able to do the work for you. Be forewarned you'll be destroying any collectability the gun has though.

It is most likley full or mod. choke now. I have a Model 12 with a 32" full choke barrel and it shoots better than any screw in choked gun that I have. Shoot it just like it is. And kill all the turkeys you want.

RE: Winchester Model 12
what does the barrel say?
my late grandfathers says full choke shoots awsome and is the best shotgun i ever shot and owned.
i think it will do fine with the barrel you have. is it a vent rib? or just has the plain bead on it?
the vent rib barrels where extra money and the ones with the bead where the cheapest.
also is it a 3" mag or 2.75?
if you would want to change the choke you would have to buy a new or a used barrel if you can find one. i know a front wood forehand grip goes for $300.00 in some places.
like everyone says HOLD ON TO IT !!! it is known as one of the best shotguns ever made. but the rem 1100 put it under.

DG-----I think what Quilly was trying to say that the Remington 870 put the Model 12 under. The Model 12 was machined----the 870 was stamped. Remington could sell the 870 at a mucher cheaper price. I believe Winchester cut the price on the Model 12-----to the point that they were losing money on each one sold. Pretty sure that they came out with the Model 1300 to compete with the Remington 870-----And then discontinued the Model 12. At least that's the way I remember it. Still a Model 12 is a great pump action gun. Lots of trap shoots are won with it every year!!

vent rib , and 2 3/4 ...barrel says full choke. Dont plan on getting rid of it , has to be the best looking shotgun I've seen in awhile. Shoots like a dream ....just wasnt sure if I could use it for turkey ...
