I would use 200 grain for deer/blk bears. I've used them in a 350 rem mag, and they worked well. You didn't say if you handloaded or not, but Rem. Cor-loks should work very well for you. The 350 rem mag, and the 35 Whelen are similar in velocity and give about the same results on big game.
