My passion varies from season to season. I am a long rifle man during the modern firearms deer season, am a black powder nut during primitive deer season, and am a handgunner during the off season.
My favorite weapon to hunt with is the black powder rifle. I just love the whole concept, the loose powder (okay pyrodex), the separate bullet, the ramrod, etc. I love to see that cloud of powder right after you fire, and then the deer down after a well placed shot.
As to handgunning, I love both my six shooters and my semi-autos. Right now if I had to chose between the two, I would chose my .357 six gun, now ask me after I get my Kimber and I may change my tune at that time.
I'd have to say scoped rifles. A few months ago I would've put handguns in second place (9mm, .357Mag, .40S&W, .45ACP), but I'm really starting to get into shotgunning, although I really prefer slugs over shot when I go to the range.
Handgunning and action shooting. Really I love competing, but of the competitions I take part in, I really like the action stuff, BR is fun, but a lot more "stuffy" than IDPA or CAS. I've always felt that handgunning is more fun than riflery, I love my rifles, but I don't know that I could get by without my handguns.
