Default Custom Stocks

What is the best custom stock out on the market? I have heard that it is the McMillan. Then I have heard that it is the HS Precision. what is your opinion on this?

Thanks Leroy.

I have owned both and prefer mcmillan. Many people with the H-S Precision stocks actually end up glass bedding them even with the aluminum v-block bedding system.

I think the most impressive stock I have seen is the Rimrock stock mfg by Borden Rifles. If feel is something that is important to you then this stock rates a 10 . Mcmillan makes more stocks for more applications then anyone else but it doesn't make them any better... They also tend to weigh more then the other stocks with exception of B&C and HS...

1...Rimrock
2.. Mcmillan/High Tech Specialties
3. HS precision
4. Bell and Carlson

I am looking for a little more weight than what my factory Rem. 700 BDL syn. has. A friend of mine bought a HS. to out on his Winchester mod. 70. It is a very nice stock. He gained more accuracy, though it was only a little, his groups come in tighter., and less recoil by adding the stock. He loves it .But I want to make shure that it is going to be worth the money. I have heard that there are better stocks to do what I am looking for , For a whole lot less money.

Thank you for your time and thoughts on this matter.

It is going on my Remington mod. 700 BDL SS. in a 338 RUM. cal. . Most of my hunting is spot and stalk (Elk). Some stand hunting , but not much. I do want something that isnt all that heavy, but isnt all that light. sort of a happy med. I like the HS stock( The Spoter), but trying to go with something a little more down to earth as far as price.

There are several good "add-on" stocks (they are not truly custon because they are built to "normal" specs.) out there, as has been mentioned. I prefer HS Precision, but have owned a Mc and was satisfied. Have the HS on three rifles, and they improved accuracy in all cases. These type stocks cost more, but you have to expect that. They are not injection molded plastic/rubber like those which come on most factory rifles.
