typically there is a barrel one, barrel two selector on the safety.....on some guns the selector is on the trigger.
in Most guns if barrel one don't fire, barrel two won't either.....it takes the recoil of barrel one to set the trigger for barrel two.
In some guns the trigger is independent....like the Winchester 101 was.
Can you be more specific about your question?
