I was wondering what varment ammo was most accurate in a mini-14. I will be using it for shooting yotes at no more than 100-150 yards. I want to know what is the most accurate outside of handloading.

The mini 14 is notorious for terrible triggers and bad groups no matter what the ammo fed it. Get someone to tune it and it will be a fine shooter. It's capable of fine performance if properly adjusted.....but Ruger don't sell it that way.
The best bet is to buy different brands and try them to see which one shoots best in your rifle as all rifles are different. What may shoot well in my mini may not shoot well at all in yours.
Ditto what Vapodog said. The mini 14 doesn't have exactly close fitting tolerances on the parts in the gun. Namely the bolt to receiver / breech fit is very loose and this don't lead to great accuracy.
They can be accurized with aftermarket parts and can be turned onto fine shooters if you feel like spending the money.

It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."
Ditto what BB and Andy said. You can try many factory loads (in my mini, the Black Hills remanufactured shoots well) but still the gun still isn't accurate enough for much beyond 100yds+ (you would be lucky to get 8" groups, IMO). Given the conversion costs, (see clarkguns.com) you could get a better out of the box semi for less.

There is NO accurate ammo for a Mini-14, nor for its brother, the Mini-30. It costs big bucks to have these things accurized, and the process includes a new barrel! There are one or two outfits that do this, and I believe they advertise in the Rifle, Handloader, and other such publications. EVEN AN ISSUE SKS OFTEN OUTSHOOTS A STOCK MINI-30, WITH THE SAME AMMO, TOO!!

Lets not forget that accuracy is a relative term! My mini-14 is as accurate as it needs to be for 100yrd shooting over the game call. I shoot black hills remanufactured 50gr. I get 3-4 in groups. Could I do better with a true moa rifle? Probably not. It all boils down to what you will do with the rifle. The ruger mini-14/ranch rifle definately fill a niche.
Like biggunz I have a 14 and it serves me fine. You can try different ammo for your gun. This gun is made for fast handling or a truck or tractor or possibly self defense.Light, easy to carry around and about indestructible. It is called a ranch rifle remember. Mine shoots good to 100 yds with no scope. This is not a $800 target gun nor is it supposed to be.

I have to agree. I had one a year or so ago and i couldn't get it to shoot to my expectations. I many different brands and grains of ammo. I started looking into aftermarket accuracy improvements... way more than I wanted to spend. I got rid of it!
