Default Winchester Model 43

I have a Model 43 in 22 Hornet that I bought when I was sixteen. It's sweet and shoots beautifully. I've kept it for 40 years and am going to use it for coyotes. The trigger's a little stiffer than I like now. Is it adjustable? There have been a couple of posts on other sites regarding the 43's safety. Winchester doesn't have a tech contact, at least on the site I tried. Any infor about it and possible work-arounds will be appreciated.

Default RE: Winchester Model 43

Masshtr, I have a Model 43 in the .218 Bee. It had a horrible trigger and I took it to a respected gunsmith in the area. He declined to work on it as he indicated, if I remember correctly, that the sear is not very hard and any work on it may cause it to fire when the action is worked. I spoke to another gunsmith who acknowledged the problem, but was confident he could do the work without problem. I had him work on the trigger, and he took the weight down to 3-4lbs. It is much nicer. I have not fired too many shots out of it, but I feel confident the work was done correctly. I hope this helps.
