marlin model 81-dl .22 bolt action rifle
Hey can anyone tell me how old this gun is? I just inherited this gun from my great grand father and was just curious about it.

RE: marlin model 81-dl .22 bolt action rifle
The model 80 was produced from 1934 to 71. The model 81 is the same gun except with the tubular mag instead of a box mag. It's not much help but it may be a starting point

RE: marlin model 81-dl .22 bolt action rifle
Actually the model 81 is still being made and if you really want to know the date of MFR you'll have to send the serial # to Marlin and ask them.
Winchester is the only company that I know of that has a dating service on their website.
