What is the best bullet for deer in a .270?
I would like to know what bullet is the best to hunt whitetails with. I am currently using a Federal Premium with a Nosler Partition bullet. It weighs 130 grains. What do you guys think? I appreciate your advice.

Thank you vapodog. I know that it sure floors deer well. I just wanted to know if there is any better bullet out there. I am going to get into reloading soon, so I would like to know the best bullet available.

I've switched over from ballistic tips to the Hornady SST's. A friend of mine was reloading the BT's for me until a few years ago when he sold all his equipment. Last year I switched over the the Honady Custom 130 grain SST's and have been very impressed with the accuracy which is equivalent to the handloads. They've performed flawlessly so far. I have heard nothing but good about the partitions although I've never tried them. I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Pesonally I am the same as ballistic tip for my deer bullet (NBT or SST). I get great accuracy and field performance from both these offerings.

I have been really impressed with the Nosler CT Ballistic Silvertips this year. They shoot well out of my rifle and they perform very well on the business end.

I have been using the Nosler BT in 150 gr. for several years now for whitetail deer. They shoot really well out of my A-Bolt and pack a good punch also. The 150 Ballistic Tip has a very high ballistic coefficient which is something to take into consideration when shots may be long. I have used Nosler Partitions in 150 gr. also and must say that they shoot excellent also. Like Vapodog said, any 130 thru 150 gr. bullet usually works just fine out of the .270 for all deer species.

My model 700 seems strange and it shoots the Remington 130 grain Core Lockts the best out of all the ammo I have put through it. I can get around 1'' groups with it at 100 yards if I do my part. But in my experience all the major ammo providers bullets will work as long as you do your part. Practice practice practice and it won't matter much what bullet you are hitting the deer with, they won't know the difference.

I hate to admit it but my 270's like the Remington 150 grain CoreLokts. They do the job well.I tried Federal Classic Ballistic Tips in my 7mm RM. They shot terrible in it. Now I'm using Core Lokts and have done well with them.
