I don't know anything about a Rem 721. Even at that it has to be a better rifle then the Rem 710. The 30-06 is a great cartridge.

The 721Rem is the rifle Remington made prior to bringing out the 700 in 1962, the short version was the 722Rem . My hunting partner still uses a 721 rem in the 30-06 . They aren't the prettiest gun remington ever made but the ones I have owned were all shooters .

My Remington 721 is in .300 H&H....(very close to the old .30-06) and it's a very special gun to me. The stocks on the 721 are designed solely for use with iron sights....when you attach a scope you almost have to raise your head off the stock just to see thru the scope. They almost must be restocked to use a scope.

Mine shoots 125 Grain Ballistic tips and 200 grain Swift A-Frames into unbelievably tiny little groups.

Incredibly strong....superbly accurate....reliable....mine got the nod to be my main weapon on my African plains game safari this last July.....over several very fine Winchester M-70s and I'm a M-70 fan....I'll try to post a photo of the restocked 721.

I used to own a 721 in 30-06. Traded it somewhere along the way. Wish I had it back. It was a great old rifle. Mine was equipped with a receiver sight, as are half of my current deer rifles. Even with old eyes, in my opinion it is still hard to beat receiver sights at normal woods yardage.

I owned one, shot the two biggest bucks of my life so far with it and eventually sold it to buy another gun. I wish I had it back now!

I never had to restock it and had a nice scope on it.

You won't want to pay more than a couple hundred dollars for one though.

This is true... Another difference between the M721/722 seies and the M 700's is that the old guns have one-piece, stamped bottom metal which is ugly. This stamped piece of tin needs to be replaced by a milled trigger-guard/flootplate assembly when it is restocked.

THANKS for the feed back and the stock pics are nice. Where did it come from?
The gun I have a line on is a old gentlemen's it was his 1st deer rifle it is in excellent condition with a weaver K-3 and a herters muzzle brake. it has the factory stock, an after market stock thats been set short for a young/women hunter. it has 2 slings and 3 boxs of the old bronze point 150's. The gun has alot of history also. 400.00 is the asking price and I think Im going for it, just can resist.
