Default Which brand of gun...Winchester, tikka, ect

I am looking for a nice, but inexpencive gun. I am wondering about the Winchester Model 70, Browning A-Bolt, Remington 700 ADL, or the Tikka T3. I dont want to go over $600 for a rifle package. I am wondering who makes the best gun for around this price. Thank you all for your help.

Well since I live north of the 49th I can't really tell you what guns for in your part of the world. If your talking package do you mean scope as well??? Cuz I doubt the abolt or T3 would be in that price range with a scope. Actually the mod 70 is a little less but still pretty close to the abolt and T3 up here. You lumped in the Adl which does really compare to the abolt or T3, they actually compete with the BDL by rem. In any regards your best to go out and check out some guns in your area, this will let you handle them and get the market value of a gun/scope/mounts, etc. The manufacturer is like asking what brand of boxers I wear, it's all feel and personal preference! Any of the ones you mentioned are good rifle, throw in ruger, tikka whitetail hunter, savage and well you see where I am going with this. Just get out and do some tire kicking. Once you have it narrowed down then ask more particular questions based on what your options are at that time.

Good luck and have fun...maybe take your visa you just never know which one will say PICK ME!

I just picked up a Winchester Model 70. I find it to be a great gun. Well put together and pretty sleek. Got it new for under $400 with a scope.

Don't rule out a lever gun either. You could have a nice lever action, scoped or not, your choice, for well within that range.

I think I would go for a Win. Model 70 Pre-64 type action, or Tika T3. I would then save my money and buy a scope later on. Good luck.

I have had so many Remington rifles without a problem of any kind that I just about have to pick the 700 ADL synthetic. They are a little under 400.00 where I live. Swift makes a very good 3x9 for 100-120 dollars. I have one on my 280 and could not be happier. Its clear and holds its point of impact vary well. I shot a deer just after daylight a couple week ago and the light gathering was very good as well.

I second the Remington ADL. For $600 you can get the gun and put a nice scope on it.

Look at the Ruger M77's. Great gun and at a decent price. I think you would be better off getting a rifle that you are happy with and then saving up money for a quality scope.

Of the choices you listed, I think the Tikka is the highest quality.

3 Problems I have with the Tiika are :

1. Only One Action Length short or long cartridge that is what you get
2. Small Ejection Port...
3. Toooooooooooooooo much plastic

other than that people that own them love them
