Default remington model 710????

im looking for a new rifle for a good price that will do the trick.i definatly wanna get a remington and i was looking at the model 700 mountain DM-no scope, but found the model 710. it is $200 cheaper, and has a 3-9 bushnell scope with it. I know it only comes in .270 or 30-06, but either cartridge is perfect. I just need somehting with a little more zip than my old winchester model 94 30-30 (i hate it, haha) and i just wanted to know what people think of the 710.

I have one. I dont use it all that much so its fine for me. I'd recommend the 700 over the 710 though.

The 710 is without a doubt the worst piece of crap produced by Remington with the possible exception of the 597. The trigger is horrible and not adjustable, the action is awful, and the workmanship is shotty. The bolt has a tendancy to come free by itself and the magazine falls out. If you are stuck on Remington for whatever reason get a 700. If you are looking for a good quality rifle at a good price look at Savage and Howa.

I have never heard a good report on the 710. I have a couple 700 ADL's synthetics that seem to be fine rifles. The triggers are easy to adjust and they do have a good trigger. They sell here for a little under 400.00

I've seen quite a few 710's at the range this year. FWIW, they are not pretty, they are not smooth, but they all shoot really well.

If a person is an occasional hunter/shooter and when the season is over they put their gun away until the next year then the 710 may be ok. I'm a big Remington fan but in all honesty i've never shot the 710 so i can't personally say it's junk other than what i've heard and the reviews i've read. I do know people who have shot them and handled them and i've never heard anything positive about the gun but i have heard some say they shoot ok. I personally wouldn't buy one after all the negative reviews i've seen and read. If you're only considering Remington then i'd look at the Model 700 ADL because if price is an issue there's not that much difference in price or at least around here there isn't.

There are alot of other package deals out there without buying the 710, such as Savage, Winchesters, and other Remingtons. I always find that they are at Wal Mart alot, so check em out there, or go to someone who deals Savage rifles. Those are decent packages.

I am a big 700 fan also have one in a 25-06 and love it I also have a Browning Abolt in 3006 but as some has stated take a look at the savage it is a very good rifle and very accurate out of the box as for the package deal I dont care much for the scope that comes with it but it will do for most people.

Spend a little more and buy a Rem700 if you've decided you need to have a Remington. The 710 is one of the worst rifles I've ever handled. I wouldn't own one on a bet.Like mentioned above check the Savage's line or the Ruger's out. Much better guns for not much more money. The 30-06 or 270 are great calbers your choice of the 710 could be allot better.
