Default leupold vx-II

I am looking at buying a VX-II 4-12x40 AO. The only drawback is that i can only find it in the fine duplex recticle in cabelas. Does anyone have any experiance with the fine duplex in hunting conditions? is it good or bad?
Also has anyone tried the new rifleman series from leupold- im looking at it but am not sure what the differences are?

Thanks for the info

wvdeerhunter,

The fine duplex is not going to be a great reticle for low light hunting situations. The major differences between the VX-II and the Rifleman is the following:

VX-II: Multicoat 4 lens coating on external lenses with magnesium flouride on internal, which is going to give you great light transmission than the Rifleman. Also offers 1/4" click adjustments

Rifleman: Magnesium Flouride on all lenses and 1/2" Friction Adjustments.

The VX-II is going to be a much better scope!

I was disappointed in the fine recticle for hunting. I got it for varmit shooting for which it worked well. As stated above though in low light its awful hard to find.
