encore rifle 308 OR 300win mag???????

I want to get a new barrel for my encore. I' m not sure which to get. I wanted a 308 but I might go out west and the 300mag would be good for that. I' m sure either one would work for me. I would be hunting deer mostly. I do reload so i could down load the 300 mag. Just wanted to know what you all think.

Unless you are going to put a muzzle brake on the 300, I would stay with the 308. The encore is a pretty light rifle.

if you get a custom barrel from bullberry or virgin valley, it can be profiled from light sporter to bull barrel. weight is not a consideration. how about a 6.5-284??? excellent ballistics with light recoil. i have an encore with a 24" light varmint taper in 6.5-284. it is sweet!!
