what size scope is good/ big enough for a 40yard to a 350 yard shot?

If you' re talking big game, a 3-9X40mm is hard to beat.

3x9 ,2.5x10,3x10 or similar powers with objective lenses in the 40mm to 42mm range.

They are right. I also recommend 3-9, 2.5-10. But I also recommend Leupold, or maybe a Nikon. The Leupold will last you a very long time.
