Default HELP!? Rem. 7600 bolt trouble

My buddy has a Remington 7600 (pump) .30-06.

The " Curved spring washer" in the bolt assembly broke in half. It is a very thin washer that is in the assembly and is part # 112150. What does this washer do? will the gun operate safely without this washer. I have no idea if the gun was fired with this piece broken or not.

This is a question you must ask of the Remington Arms Company. Since you know the part number, it should be easy to get an answer. They have a web site.
