Hi jjt,

Best way of course is to shoot across a chronograph if you can find a range with one available. Short of that a guesstimate would be between 50fps to 100fps more.

Maybe someone else has a more definitive answer for you.

Good luck!

Same answer. 50-100 fps higher with 26 inch tube.

The only way to know the actual velocity is by using a chronograph to measure the velocity.Even with the same barrel lengths and loads velocities can vary by 100fps or more from gun to gun.

AKBound...that' s about right...but I think that if it' s important, a chronograph is in order.

As stubble said the best way to tell what you are getting is taking a average from a chronograph . All barrels are not the same even if it is the same caliber . Some are tighter than others and can make a big difference in your readings especially between different manufacturers . The figure given in a reloading manual is what they got in their test barrel and is only to give you a estimate of what you might have using their recipes .

I have heard that most factory charts are a little agressive to begin with so the 26" barrel probably offsets the factorys aggressive numbers. Otherwise I have always read its 60-80 fps at the 300 mag velocities.
