Default Recoil of Slug Guns

Does anyone know where you can find foot/pounds of recoil for slug guns? There are very nice charts for rifles but I' d like to see how a slug gun compares to some of the bigger rifles. I know a guy who shoots a slug gun and says that it makes the 300 Weatherby feel like a BB gun.

I shot some Rem. 2 3/4" 1 oz. slugs out of my Moss. 500. The recoil pushed me back, but was not too bad. Go buy some slugs and find out for yourself!! It sure is fun!

Well I went to make sure my 870 was still sighted in and brought my 13 year old with me and let him try it and he loved it so its not that bad.

Well for NJ you have to use a shotgun for rifle season so I got out my ruger red label over and under as its my only shotgun and put 3" 000 buck shot 00 buck shot too and shot about 20 rounds. Well I have a huge black and blue on my shoulder /arm area. I much rather shoot my 338 win mag any day of the week.

Your such a stud slugman with that 20lb sluggun.

As far as the rest, I have a few slugguns. If its a pump and around 7 to 8lbs like 870' s and mossbergs, yea, its goin to give ya a whallop. More than a 338RUM. But I got me a browning gold semi. That really takes the bite out of them. With the Semi action in conjuction with a good recoil pad that comes on a gold, it tames it down to a 300Win mag or less with 3" shells.

More than a 338 RUM is a pretty good amount of recoils. I feel bad for the kids in the shotgun only zones. That' s a lot of recoil for a 12 year old. I never shot slugs off of the bench before. I' ve only hunted with rifled slugs from a smoothbore double barrel. I' m shooting a 300Wby now and I think that has a decent amount of push.
