Default a-bolt magazine difficulties???

so i finally got my new rifle (Browning A-Bolt 7mm WSM) and i' m pretty excited about sighting it in this weekend. i bought the rifle new, but the manual is missing from the box and i' v never messed with magazines before. browning says i should be able to have 3 in the mag. and 1 in the chamber, however, the only way i can figure out to have 3 in the mag. and 1 in the chamber is to put three in load one and then take the clip back out and add a third to it, for a total of 4 shells. am i doing this the hard way or something?? i appreciate the help.

Load one in the chamber first and then put three in the magazine. I have a 270WSM by Browning.

I have a 270 the only way the clip holds what it says is to load it with the bolt open. open the bolt put the clip on the flap and clost the hatch. It should latch. Then close the bolt.

It loads like Bigbuck says. I got a 22-250 a-bolt you put 5 in the clip load it with bolt open. When you shut the bolt it leaves you one in chamber 4 in clip.
