Default .223 For Encore

I just bought an Encore pistol. So far I am happy with it. I have been thinking about getting a .223 barrel for it in 12" . I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the accuracy or pros and cons of the pistol barrel.

Only one way to know for sure.
Go buy one, take it to the local gravel pit and shoot it

buck,

check out this site, it' s totaly T/C these guys can help you.

http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/php...forum.php?f=24

Depending on what you are going to use it for the .223 is a great cal. I' m sure that you will enjoy shooting it. If you are going to hunt deer with it you may want to go with the .243. but jmo

If you are just looking for a serious varminter check out

http://ktsammo.250x.com/ott/priceandorder.html

He makes a .17hmr barrel for the encore that does not require any extra mods to shoot the rimfire. Highly reccomended by the guys on Greybeard site.

Good shooting.

I have one for sale but it' s a 15" barrell and has less than 40 rounds fired through it. I also have Weaver scope bases on it. For more info E-mail me,I payed over $220 just for the barrell and accuracy was great with handloads.

I had a 223 Encore setup and tried more loads than any other gun I' ve owned. This is always the dilemma shooting a rifle round in a pistol-finding the right load for a shortened barrel length. You may luck out and find an accurate load, but 12" of barrel for a 223 is pushing it,you may be better off with about 16" .This is what my Encore had and no matter what case, powder, primer, bullet, and OAL I tried no one round really stood high above the rest.Of all the barrels for the Encore and Contenders I' ve owned I' ve found no other round as accurate as the 22 Hornet in these pistols. And as far as the larger rounds they sell for the Encore, come on guys, theres no way on Gods green earth that much powder is going to be burned in 16" or less of barrel to be an accurate, efficent gun.

Hey Bigbuck,
To e-mail anyone on this website, just click on the icon of the " little person" that is above the person' s callname, like the one above where it says mainehunt. This will take you to a page where you can click on their e-mail.
Hope this is clear.

PS- I have a few friends with Encore pistols with barrel lengths of 12 and 14 inches. They get groups of 1' quite often with rifle calibers. They certainly don' t get the velocity that a longer barrel would give you, but they do get the accuracy. One by product of a short barrel with a lot of powder is a good muzzle flash. All that extra powder has to go somewhere
