Default 870 wingmaster question??

I have a 870 wingmaster from the late 60s. Will a newer barrel fit it that I can shoot steel. This barrel is a fixed full choke and no vent rib. UP to what year will still fit this gun. I was told that the newer barrels won' t fit especially the ones with the screw in choke tubes. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: 870 wingmaster question??

If it is a 12 ga you should be ok with any of the new barrels. However, if it is a 20 ga the only barrels that will fit it are ones without screw in chokes. The new 20' s are a littel different from the older ones. I have a room full of 12a. 870' s old and new and can switch barrels between them except for the special field models.
