Since you're reloading, a 240 XTP seated to the cannelure over 23.5grn H110/W296 should shoot well. I've used this as my "test load" for over a hundred 44mags, if it doesn't shoot well, usually there's something wrong with the firearm, not the load.
100% agreed!!! I start in the 21.0 range and go up from there with the 240's. IMHO, I stay away from the 180's for you can run them up too fast and just get a lot of frag on entrance side and no exit or penetration. I shoot several whitetails here in Illinois and that was what happened to only be dropped later after a long tracking job. And 99% of the time wind up in the 23.0-24.0grn range making it tick. I run a shade over this in my Lone Eagle with a 14" pipe and scope and it will pop 1qt oil bottles at 200yds from a sandbag rest all day.
