Default Single shot rifle

Hey everyone. My hunting season is over and for next year I'd like to buy a single shot rifle to hunt deer with. I was in the blind the other day and started thinking about it and realistically there is never a need to take more then one shot quickly. I would like something reliable, something I can mount a scope to easily, I would like something realitivly affordable so I can spend some decent money on a scope for it. I would love to keep it in .270 as that's my normal round of choice but I am open for other suggestions and lean toward .243 as my second choice for caliber. I'm new to single shot rifles so any info or input would be great.

The Ruger # 1 is a nice looking rifle It now comes in a 270 also 8.1 pounds. It is a exclusive model sold thru Lipsey's A distributor.

So you may have to ask your Ruger dealer to order you one.

Default Handi Rifle

I hunt with a NEF Handi Rifle in 243. I took my 2 nd deer with it yesterday. It is short, light, accurate and easy to mount a scope on.
Love it!

I was looking at the NEF. I have a shotgun from them that's amazing and the cost of the rifle seems like a good choice. Any issues with it or things you don't like about it?

Default NEF Handi

I have had no issues with my Handi, also have a 20 ga. I actually bought them for my wife but now use them more than she does.

Hunted deer with a Browing B78 in 30-06 for 35 yr's. Added a cartridge sleeve on the buttstock and it was as fast to reload as a bolt. Don't remember having to reload fast but a couple of times. It was, and still is, a tack driver.

Its hard to beat the CVA Apex for the money. SS and a adjustable trigger.

You can find them for quite a bit under MSRP. Roughly in the $520 range.
