Thanks guys! I ended up getting the .270 Win into the hunter (wood stock) and also went with a leupold vx3i 4.5x14x50mm. The gun had to be special ordered since I am a lefty, it should hopefully be here within the next week or so! I'm sure I'll be buying another in the near future except in a larger caliber. I'm going to use the .270 specifically for deer and boar and I'll get something larger for elk or if I'm hunting in deep cover. Thanks for all of the help!

I think you have yourself a great set-up - just a matter of practice from here.

.............. and I think you are making a wise choice getting a "big bore" for large / dangerous animals !
