Default Why are they so clueless?

Well I guess it's good you guys can finally use Highpower rifles, but the new law seems just as idiotic as the old ones have been.

Personally, I'd skip either of them. Given only those two choices, I'd take a Ruger American and restock it.

Get either - just spend some money on your bases, rings & optics.

A bunch of ammo & hours of "practice" !

Good place to start..........................

The Indiana rifle law is weird as heck. Only rifles with .243 and .308 diameter calibers are allowed. These rifles can only be used on private land. I will be sticking with my .450 bushmaster, that was none of these new restrictions.

have no idea what the exact laws are, but set up correctly either cartridge will kill a deer farther than you can hit one.

I'd probably go with a 308 or 243 chambered Dimension, topped with a 3-9x40 Leupold or Nikon scope.

Those are the actual bullet dimensions. Indiana's Public Land regs on rifles doesn't make sense to me; You can use a 300 Remington Ultra Magnum, but you cant use a 25-06?

THIS IS FROM THE REGS:

Additional cartridges that are legal under HEA 1231 include, but are not limited to, the following:

6mm-06
6mm BR Remington
6mm PPC
6mm Remington
.240 Weatherby
.243 Winchester
.243 Winchester Super Short Magnum
.30 Carbine
.30 Herrett
.30 Remington AR
.30-06 Springfield
.30-30 Winchester
.30-40 Krag
.300 AAC Blackout (.300 Whisper)
.300 H&H Magnum
.300 Remington Short Action Ultra Magnum
.300 Savage
.300 Weatherby Magnum
.300 Winchester Magnum
.300 Winchester Short Magnum
.300 Remington Ultra Magnum
.307 Winchester
.308 Marlin
.308 Winchester
7.62x39mm
7.62x54mmR
There are other cartridges that meet the law’s specifications, and there are others that do not. A partial list of cartridges that are not allowed under HEA 1231 includes the .25-06 Remington, .270 Winchester, .303 British, .32 Winchester SL, 38-55 Winchester,.40 S&W, .444 Marlin, and .45-70 Government.

I know, it's odd. At the very least, the first step to opening rifle hunting in all calibers.

30 carbine allowed but NOT a 25/06? Somebody with an education needs to go over these regulations. There is a serious lack of knowledge displayed in this list.
